My research examines how interpersonal experiences and behaviors contribute to the development and maintenance of mental disorders. I am particularly interested in translational, transdiagnostic, and transtheoretical perspectives, as well as in the heterogeneity within diagnostic categories—especially depression. 

While I value classical approaches in experimental psychopathology, I increasingly draw on network models and computational approaches. 

In my research practice, I place strong emphasis on transparency and reproducibility. This includes preregistering studies, making data and analysis code openly available, clearly documenting deviations from preregistered plans, and carefully avoiding causal language where it is not warranted. 

In my academic and clinical teaching, I pursue a participatory approach that emphasizes practical relevance and the transmission of procedural knowledge. My ongoing work as a psychotherapist directly informs and enriches my teaching.
